Angels do/don’t have wings

For a brief time
You came into my life
And made me soar like
a Bird of Gold
a Dragon of Ancient Times
an Angel from the Sky
You had the power
        ability
to make me believe
that you were my wings
yet I knew
        believed
that you were the Angel
with your big gray eyes
and wonderfully sweet voice
    like a million silver bells
    like soft wind chimes.
You promised me love
You breathed upon my life
And nourished my frail heart;
You sang to me
like all Angels do
of the things you say best
when you say nothing at all
You graced my bed, never
to taint it with lust and desire.

Then, one sad day,
you said goodbye
and took my wings with you,
while you were coming down from your self-induced flight.

And you left me stranded on a nowhere

And you never looked back

And after all I believed, you made me realize it wasn’t so, it wasn’t you, it was all a lie

And you never sang the grand finale

And you didn’t bother with the real truth

And I just cannot close the chapter
of the Angel who never really had any wings
I must have imagined it all!
It was never really there!
