I lay down with you and fell asleep
I answered your dreams of anger and hurt
I cried for you the tears you couldn’t weep
I became the one to blame for all your pain
I released in you the monster you’d been cradling
Now set free it’s anger in you thrown at me
But you put it back in your heart and there it is residing
Before monsters can dissolve, first you must be whole
There can be no true meeting
Between the awakened and the sleeping
Either one goes back to sleep, the other awakes
Or they can only separate
As they stand they cannot mix
A relationship no book will fix
The awakened cannot sleep for long
And the sleeping cannot see what’s wrong
As I found you so I leave you, angry and scared
With a life that falls apart
With monsters free to roam your heart
Awake I’m freed of the nightmare we shared
I see your soul so beautiful, your soul you keep in chains
