Give me something to make it feel alright
Everyday just going through the motions
So restless for something more
A deep sadness for could have beens now gone
Contracts once entered into
Still holding them
Don’t know how to break them
They work but do they serve us
Or simply keep us bound
To another day of the same
Looking so good on the outside
Yet so sad inside
All dreams have fled in the face of reality
No more illusions seen through my tears
Too late to start again
But nowhere else to go
So once again I begin
Contracts holding me
I can’t break free
The slate is never wiped clean
I fear the things that it could bring
Should I wash my hands of obligations
So I remain here, caged in my frustrations
The genius resigned to no longer fail, to no longer try
To fold my wings and turn my sight from fanciful dreams of flight
Just to accept another day of yesterday
