Making Space

Ah, it’s such a mess
I want you, you don’t even see me
Every day I must awake and believe
True love is something that can be achieved

So hard in the cold empty space of my bed
Empty but for the hopes and dreams in my head
The image of you entangling all I wish to find
A creeping vine that grows in my mind

There’s plenty of room for love inside
But a life so entangled and overgrown
Is there space for romance to be sown
And sprouting there be choked by life’s design

What if I cleared my world to plant a rose
Only to find it will not grow
Left again with an empty bed
So much work for letting go

But dreams of us are all I have
To hold me warm on this cold night
Staring into your beautiful face
Give me the courage to make this space
