I listen to the songs played on the radio
It seems that we are searching but for what we do not know
Maybe we will find it in a new relationship
Or maybe in the things we buy or an exciting trip
Why are we always feeling that we’re needing something more
And once we have it then there’s something else we’re looking for
It’s a pattern that is puzzling, it’s not making any sense
Surely we weren’t meant to live with so much discontent
If we sit down and think about it we are just our minds
Our minds create our demons and our dreams of every kind
Yet we pander to our bodies, what the ego wants it gets
But deep inside we have a soul that cries out with neglect
Could it be we don’t belong here, aliens on Earth
Trapped in time and by our bodies and our mortal birth
Maybe we are looking for a long forgotten home
An ancient memory of a time when love was all we’d known
Now we have been separated by our private thoughts
In lonely worlds inside our heads we’re cut off from our source
We have forgotten God Who created us as brothers
Forgotten what it’s like to care about each other
When we’ve learnt the lesson of causes and effects
Overcome our egos which have led us to forget
That we are the sons of God which is why we yearn
For the love that we once shared and to which we would return
