Stormy Weather

I was sailing the seven seas of my heart
The raging river of feelings pouring out
The waves crash in, there’s no respite
Blown and battered with no land in sight

A longing for love washing over me
Water, water as far as I can see
A wild ocean no river of tears can drain
To see the fear beneath the pain

A constant quest in this life of mine
To find the truth, to let love shine
Watching the rapids from the shore
No calmer now than I was before

But out of the water some time to think
On the river’s edge to my knees I sink
Naked now but more complete
The lesson’s learning’s been bitter sweat

With courage and fear measuring the same
I hear the white water call my name
Anxious moments put in place
As raging rapids I choose to face

Dive right in to the murky depths
Gasp and choke on the memory of breath
To play once again at the fool’s game
To seek the pleasure and avoid the pain

To calm the storm and part the sea
You cannot be afraid of your heart
