Ten Days In The Desert

Ten days in the desert
Ten days of perspective
Space stretching as far as I can see
Silence the voices interrupting me

Alone in the wilderness
A place untouched by our greed, a land in which I’m freed
A perfect place of peace, never found in my home
Back to nowhere, back to nothing

To see where it all began
To remember who I am

All contracts null and void
No clock to move the hands of time
Five stars outshone by the night sky
To sleep beneath the shine of the moon
Where no malice may find me

Oh how we’ve progressed
Leaving peace and beauty for fear and need
Nothing is required
Gaia gave me all

What if we were born in this home
In peace, in love
Would we still hunger, would we still need
Would we still cry ourselves to sleep
Would we still believe chains required to bind us to some decency
Would we still inflict ourselves upon each other
Or would we have the presence to let be
