The Poet and the Dreamer

The poet and the dreamer were walking side by side
The poet said “I must be lonely to write the words of love,
It touches one more deeply when the dream has been denied”
The dreamer dreamt the poems that the poet never wrote

The poet and the dreamer were standing on the shore
The dreamer said “I’ve been here oh so many times before
I’ve loved, I’ve laughed, I’ve seen the sun upon the sea
I will dream the dream and it will drive me endlessly”

The language of love touched the soul
And the dream did pierce the heart
Then waves crashed in upon the rocks
And love was smashed apart

The poet and the dreamer before the setting sun
The poet and the dreamer knew that they were one
