You talk of love
But I have no understanding of what you speak of
What do you mean?
The comfort of acceptance of all that feels wrong
Or trying to fulfil the need to belong

The lust of the moment nothing more
We’ve all been there before
Undying love today
Tomorrow we wonder how we ever felt that way

Honey drips from sweet lips
The gentlest breath whispering adoration endless
Satin soft fingertips deliver a river of caress
An invisible kiss from the connection we miss
A fleeting glimpse of bliss

Let inside the places we hide
Glide across the great divide
Twined together, flavours combined
Redefined, infinite, unconfined

Dreams enticed to skating on the thin ice
Of the lake of fragments gone when you awake
Pieces of parts partitioned and sliced from the heart
Served up as accusations, formulations of justifications as to why we should fall apart

Is this what you mean when you tell me you love me
The words that you say when you want me to stay
To assuage my fears
To stop me from running away
